Jacqwi Campbell
Guest Curator - June-August 2020
Jacqwi Campbell is a Creative Director and Producer living in Oakland, CA. Born in Louisiana, raised as a child in Natchez, Mississippi, and later as a teen in Portland, Oregon, Jacqwi loves to observe and embraces stories of self-reflection. Her work focuses on telling stories about art and community.
She began her career as a journalist writing for publications such as The New Yorker. After getting her MA from The New School in Film and Media Studies, she lived in Bahrain as a Fulbright scholar. While working as a TV producer in Qatar, Jacqwi found a passion for telling visual stories of artists, food, and culture. She's produced editorial content for BBC, Instagram, Airbnb, and many others.
Jacqwi initiated the #WetheArtists series as its first guest curator, giving homage and recognition to artists of color in the Bay Area. Through intentional outreach, she hopes this collaborative series puts a spotlight on underrepresented artists while experimenting with bringing the Bay Area art community together through social media.
