Introducing Jes Distad, our guest curator for Pride month! 🌈 They're a nonbinary queer artist who's all about the weird and wonderful. 🎨✨ From writing to painting, sculpting to filmmaking, Jes does it all! 📝🎥 They studied art at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and are also passionate about collecting art. 🖼️

Jes's artis a delightful blend of silliness and style! Their art is all about having fun and spreading joy. They're serious about making playful fine art that genuinely connects with people. 🎉❤️

Originally from Maryland, Jes has been a creative force in the SF Bay Area, New York, and Atlanta. After returning back to the Bay Area, they've been doodling, creating affordable art, and highlighting local talent. Jes collaborates with Moth Belly Gallery to interview and feature amazing local artists. 🎙️✨

Their art journey in San Francisco has been an adventure inspired by street art, dancing, singing, and standing up for what they believe in. The city's vibrant influence shines through Jes's playful and purposeful creations. 🌉

Whether it's painting, sculpting, or 3D art, Jes loves to explore various avenues of creativity. They're drawn to Dada, animals, and dream interpretation, infusing their work with endless fascination. Their approach is refreshingly unbound, Jes is never afraid to try something new. 🌠

Recently, Jes's passion has led them to embrace performance art, including acting and drag. They believe in the power of art to soothe, awaken, and challenge norms. 🎭💥 They're inspired by the Bread and Puppet’s philosophy that "Art Is Not Business! Art Is Food! Art Soothes Pain! Art Wakes Up Sleepers! Art Is Cheap! Hurrah!" 🎨🙌

For June, Jes will shine a spotlight on LGBTQ+ artists from the Bay Area in our #WeTheArtist series. 🌈 Stay tuned for future spotlights! You can also find Jes's Jackie Brainald Art Vending Machine at Moth Belly Gallery or read their captivating studio visits on Moth Belly Media. 🎉📸
