Nick Haste, a San Francisco-based editorial and portrait photographer. Nick's journey into photography began after serving 15 years in the Navy, and he has since graduated with a BFA in Photography from the Academy of Art University. Currently, Nick worked as a Program Assistant at ArtSpan, currently teaches at First Exposure, and is a substitute teacher at Brandeis School of San Francisco.

Nick's photography showcases Black beauty and desire while also embracing historical elements and imagining future scenarios. He is passionate about creating images that inspire Black people and tell their unique stories. As he puts it, "I like to create work that shows the diverse world that San Francisco claims to be."

“I've lived in San Francisco now for three years. Walking the streets of SF can be challenging, from the representation of people who look like me to the judgemental stares. So I like to create work that inspires Black people, tells our unique story, and work that shows the diverse world that San Francisco claims to be.”

Nick's work is inclusive, educational, and empowering. He draws inspiration from his life experiences, education, and his wild imagination, spending weeks conceptualizing and crafting images that truly represent the essence of his subject matter. He carefully considers elements such as location, model, clothing, and gear to ensure that his images tell a compelling story.

When he's not behind the camera, Nick enjoys going on adventures with his two dogs and partner, always on the lookout for his next inspiration. Nick's photography is a testament to his unwavering commitment to uplifting and empowering the Black community in SF, and we are excited to see where his creative journey takes him next.
