Oscar Boberg’s artistic journey began with the intent to create something beautiful. There can be a lot of divisive rhetoric in society, especially on social media, and the goal early on was to create something beautiful that could bring people together. That search for creating connections, to evoke feelings, but also to make it fun, makes his art an ever changing endeavor. Boberg’s subject matter keeps changing with whatever inspires him. Initially landscapes dominated his paintings, which slowly shifted into light houses and later cityscapes. For a while he was using references to Science Fiction in paintings of Bay Area landscapes. With the arrival of Covid, his focus shifted again, and animal portraits became a favorite subject. Animals have no concept of what covid is, nor do they understand what we might be stressing over. They just keep on keeping, which can be quite comforting when it seems like the world is crumbling around you.

Hopefully his work can inspire others, and bring some happiness, inspiration, and an escape from the turmoil that surrounds us.
