Osaze Seneferu is a San Francisco native artist and a graduating senior at California College of the Arts. “My father Malik Seneferu is an artist from the San Francisco Bayview area and without him I would not be creating art. When I was an infant he placed a paintbrush in my hand and always had a space for me to create.” Osaze's work now explores his family through abstract figurative paintings. He uses various colors to create an atmosphere of freedom and experimentation. Osaze enjoys obscuring figures and colors to produce mystery.
Experimentation is the main key to his creative process. Osaze’s color palette consists of earthy jewel tones, naturalistic colors & fluorescent hues. The figurative compositions range from small, hand-held sizes to larger than life imagery. By adding and removing paint, the aggressive scraped surfaces create a new space for the figure to occupy.
This spring Osaze is graduating from California College of the Arts. He is looking forward to having the opportunities to participate in residencies and get his work into galleries.
