Car On a Hot Street

Tom Lander paints San Francisco streets from various slightly distorted angles, creating lightly surreal, and somewhat impressionistic compositions. Using layered brush strokes, and carefully selected colors, Tom aims to achieve the rightness of textures seen in oil paintings.  “Car On a Hot Street” conveys the midday heat in an outer Mission neighborhood. The sun shines onto a wide street and reflects off of a car windshield. The absence of people conveys a feeling of desolation as a single car traverses through the heat.
