Featured above is a painting from his series "We Are Earth That Walks" which tells the story of the Central American migrants traveling northward in caravans in search of a better life. "The artwork explores the suffering and hopes of those traveling from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, fleeing poverty and violence in their home countries", Talavera-Ballón explains, "The exhibit seeks to change the biased narrative portrayed by the media and offer a glimpse of hope. It is also an invitation for much-needed conversations around this highly-charged conflict."

Experience Talavera-Ballón's art in person by visiting “Somos tierra que anda-We are Earth that Walks” at the Asian Resource Center in Oakland (on view through August 2020) or by viewing his latest mural, "Kiku Dreaming" at Roosevelt Plaza in Redwood City.
