South Korean urban landscape painter Jung Han Kim creates spontaneous, colorful images depicting everyday life and San Francisco scenery.

Kim’s creative use of color and shadowing create a three dimensional scene into which the viewer can enter. His consistent use of very strong color against very pastel color and texture create compositions that are timeless. From figurative work to urban city scenes and to California landscapes, Kim captures the moment in a fresh combination of representational and impressionistic styles.

Kim studied in Seoul, South Korea and moved to San Francisco to complete his MFA at the Academy of Art University. Kim’s primary subjects are inspired by his urban and pastoral surroundings; his style is a fresh and unique combination of representational, impressionistic, and abstract. This allows the viewer to reflect intensely into the image.

He has won numerous awards including The Salon International 2006 Award for the International Museum of Contemporary Masters. His work is exhibited throughout the United States and found in private and corporate collections. He was part of the “de Young Open” exhibition in 2021.
