“My art form falls also in the category of metal fabrication,” says jewelry artist Nyya Lark.
“You are essentially creating a recipe.” Lark’s process involves imagining, sketching, and strategizing production steps to bring her ideas to life. “I find it also to be somewhat magical in how one can take flat sheet metal and create form, depth, and dimension through piercing, firing, and hammering.”
Her uncut amber focal necklace is dear to Lark. “The amber focal resembles a leaf hanging from the branches and in its natural state having seeped through the branches, the roots in real life. The branches are captured in rough form without high polish so that they are not in competition or conflict with the natural beauty of the amber focal," says Lark. “All separate distinct parts working in unity to create a whole, much like nature itself.”
