Beth Davila Walman is a cross-disciplinary artist basing her practice on photography and relationship to landscape and material. Davila Waldman allows herself freedom of media to “explore the impact of socio-political trends on cultural landscapes, often through imagery laden with indicators of economic and social status.”

Waldman’s constructed vistas grasp at quiet solace amongst the history of colonization and welcomes meditations on civil access. Waldman’s work “reveals a motif of power of displacement” with abrasions, weathered surfaces, and playful geometry. Her activation of collage elements and gel photo transfers add to her abstract narrative of constant tension centered on the landscape and power dynamics. “ I am finding myself trying to articulate a language of abrasion serving to echo social stress.”

Although Waldman’s current workspace is in LA, the Bay Area will always have a special place in her heart. Notable happenings include press in ShoutOut LA; All Media 2021, The Irvine Fine Arts Center, Irvine, CA | On Exhibit thru September 18th; and NOMAD at The Torrance Arts Museum from Saturday August 28, 7pm - 11pm, Sunday 29, 12pm - 5pm, 2021.
