Naira Diptee is an artist and designer that balances dreamy and bold elements in her work. Hailing from her home island of St. Lucia, her practice focuses on “recording the hazy comfort I feel there, but also creating surreal dreamscapes from my imagination in an effort to create a visual space for myself.”

Having moved to the Bay Area in Fall 2020, Naira feels motivated to contribute to our creative ecosystem. “The fact that there is art everywhere, I feel inspired to create because everyone else is as well.” Although she works from photos, she takes creative liberties and deviates from the subject matter by augmenting colors, the pose of the figures, hairstyles, etc. Naira likes to work in digital and traditional mediums, allowing for experimentation and leaning into “exploring exactly what it is I want to say with my work and how that converges with my style.”

Naira is excited to be included in a zine project later this year produced by Family Style Collective – a Bay Area-based art collective celebrating creative expression and exploration of cultural identity. She is also interested in working with musicians in her creative future.
