Meet Pollux Lopez (he/him), a queer Latinx artist based in San Francisco who brings forth a world of raw beauty through his meticulous sculptures. Merging the realms of narrative and formalism, he utilizes a process of creation and destruction in the manifestation of small to medium-sized sculptures. Pollux’s labor-intensive structures are adorned with thousands of handmade crystals or porcelain shards applied to core bodies of clay.
“San Francisco has birthed revolutions, historical moments, and now, it births my artistic journey and practice. Every day, this city fuels my inspiration, and I'm honored to call it home. Through my art, I aim to evoke emotion, urging viewers to engage, to feel the texture, to question the why behind each piece, especially when they mirror my fears.” –Pollux
The meticulous and focused repetitive nature of Pollux’s work serves as a form of meditation. A calming resolve for his anxiety, time disappears in the dialogue between the artist and his art as he brings sculptures into this realm
