Meet Suki Liebow (she/her), a Bay Area-based artist and painter whose art practice is an expression of emotions in response to her environment, heavily influenced by the climate of her local community and broader social issues.

Her work is an invitation to viewers to engage with their own emotional responses. Whether it be to experience a moment of awe and respite from an often chaotic and violent world, or to feel their anger reflected in her activist pieces, her intention is to reach out, offer a connection to our collective emotional reality, and inspire artistic engagement in others.

Suki’s work uses her indigenous roots through her mother's lineage to transcend the traditional boundaries of culture and identity, aiming to echo the human experience in its purest form. Her mixed media practice is not just a career; it's a lifeline that speaks to her journey from hardship to a place of influence and advocacy within the art community.

She says “I can’t NOT make art. I make art because I can’t help it. Because creating is like breathing. Like exhaling after inhaling. Like rain soaking the earth after a drought. The same way we consume food and sleep to nurture our bodies, I create to engage with my soul. To give a voice to the invisible part of human existence: emotion.”

Her awestricking 50 panel piece, "My Love," is currently on display at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery, while "Little Dreamer" is featured in the Open Studios Exhibition at SOMArts Cultural Center’s Main Gallery.
